Norway’s largest retailer, NorgesGruppen, is to launch its Deli de Luca concept at a number of larger Esso forecourts, following the retailer's 10-year agreement with Esso Norway AS, which will see Norway Servicehandel AS operate 106 Esso shops and car washes throughout the country.
Deli de Luca is one of NorgesGruppen's convenience banners. It operates 30 Deli de Luca outlets in the city centres of Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand, Trondheim, Sandnes and Stavanger.
Deli de Luca was a finalist in the 2015 Insight NACS International Convenience Retailer of the Year Awards and claims to be redefining convenience in Norway.
It has a vision to be Europe’s coolest convenience concept, providing a high quality experience of food and drinks on the go. In 2014 it recorded a turnover of NOK400m.
Deli de Luca focuses on core product categories: fresh fast food, fresh baked goods, cold beverages, coffee and premium ice cream.
According to the company, it has a strong focus on innovation, which is fundamental in its approach to product development.
Commenting on plans to launch the Deli de Luca convenience concept at Esso forecourts, Tormod Lier of Deli de Luca said: "NorgesGruppen looks at these locations along the road strategically important both for food and drink as well as pick up points."
Last month Rival Reitangruppen revealedi t would be targeting commuters with the launch of a new upmarket convenience banner called Northland, with a focus on traditional Norwegian bakery products.
